Spring is around the corner, and do you know what that means? Time to blow those stale leaves off the back deck, break out the umbrella stored away in the basement all winter, and fluff those seat cushions for your couch or dining table set. Wait- your pillows won’t fluff? They’re void of fullness? The colors are bland and faded?!

Don’t worry– we got you covered!

Here at American Casual Living, replacement cushions are one of our specialties. Our associates are happy to help you through the process of measuring old cushions and selecting a new, vibrant fabric from one of our premiere vendors. Replacing your cushions has never been easier!

 

 

The Process

Take Out the Tape Measure

The process is simple: Bring your old cushions into our showroom in Buford, GA, where one of our “Cushion Pros” can take measurements. We can also answer any questions you may have regarding sizing and fabrics. If you are unable to make it into the showroom, we are happy to take your measurements over the phone; however, we always prefer to take the measurements in store when possible to avoid any mistakes.

 

Now For the Fun Part

After we have confirmed your measurements, we can move on to the fun part- picking out a fabric! We offer a range of fabrics from top-quality companies like Sunbrella, Outdura, Revolution, and Tempotest. Solid colors, floral patterns, stripes, and even butterflies- we can do whatever you desire! All of our fabrics are versatile, built to handle the elements of the outdoors, and easy to clean in case of a mess. We have enough swatches to keep you busy for hours, and are happy to answer any questions for you while you find the perfect fabric for your outdoor living space.

The Final Product

After taking your measurements and selecting your fabric, the final step is placing the order. Our replacement cushions are made-to-order, and usually take between six-eight weeks to arrive. Once they have arrived, our Cushion Pros will call to let you know that your cushions are ready for pickup! We will look over the cushions with you in the store to make sure everything is as you expected, and after that- to the deck they go!

 

Cleaning and Care

Our cushions are virtually maintenance-free, but as we all know, accidents happen. Lucky for you, you’ve picked a fabric that’s easy to clean with a little dish soap and water! We carry a variety of cushion cleaning products in our showroom as well, in the case you need something a little more heavy duty. If you plan to leave your furniture unattended for a long period of time, we also recommend looking into furniture covers that can keep both your cushions and frames fresh from season to season.

A New Year Means a Fresh Start!

 

As we say goodbye to 2024, we look back and remember all the memories our staff and customers shared in our Buford, Georgia showroom. However, after providing us with over sixteen years of service, our showroom is overdue for a makeover! From December 23rd through January 10th, 2025, we will close our showroom for extensive renovations that will breath new life into the store and create a fresh, improved atmosphere for our customers to enjoy while shopping.

 

What’s Happening?

 

What exactly is happening in the store, you may ask? We are currently taking up our old carpeted showroom floor and replacing it with polished cement to create a new, a new modern look to showcase our furniture.

In addition to the floor, we are also revamping our Front Desk area to improve your shopping experience. This will include new countertops, better organization of furniture and fabric samples, and a streamlined workflow to make helping you more efficient.

About Our Ipé Wood

With over five million acres (twice the size of Yellowstone National Park) of FSC® certified forest under management, Bolivia is the world’s leader in sustainable management of natural tropical forest. CIMAL/IMR, the manufacturer of the entire Jensen Leisure Furniture Ipé collection, is directly responsible for the management of approximately half of this area.

The Chiquitania Forest Reserve – Jensen Ipé comes from the 2,120,000 acre CIMAL/IMR Chiquitania forest reserve in Eastern Bolivia. The Chiquitania reserve is a unique formation of natural tropical dry forest. It is located in the southwest corner of the Amazon basin, lying directly west of the Brazilian Pantanal, the world’s largest continguous wetland. The Chiquitania Forest provides critical habitat for many rare and endangered animals, including the Harpy Eagle, Jaguar, the Howler Monkey, and numerous species of neotropical migratory birds.

Because of the nature of tropical dry forest, trees here grow very slowly. Consequently, some of the world’s strongest and most durable woods come from the Chiquitania Forest. Ipé (also know as Tajibo in Bolivia), is among the most abundant tree species in these forests.

CIMAL/IMR foresters carefully manage the Ipé in their forest reserves according to the demanding criteria of the Forest Stewardship Council™. Tree harvesting is planned to minimize impacts and preserve the forest’s natural biological diversity.

Ipé is incredibly strong and dense, with very high wear durability. Weather has little to no negative effect on Ipé. A handsome chocolate-brown when new, the sun gracefully transforms Ipé to a mature, elegant silver patina.

One fantastic example of the durability of these timbers are the Ipé posts and beams found in the original Jesuit missions in Chiquitania dating from the 18th century. After more than 200 years in service these structural members are still sound.

Other applications where the strength and durability of Ipé has been long recognized are in the deck boards of the historic Solferino Footbridge which crosses the Seine River in central Paris, in the famous boardwalk at Atlantic City, NJ, and in the wood slats in all of New York City park benches.
